Harrison Steel has an opening for a Senior Quality Engineer in Attica, Indiana. This position is responsible for planning and conducting activities concerned with the Quality Assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products

This position requires an Associate's degree (Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred) and two years of current related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Quality Engineers (CQEs) will be considered to have met the educational requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates all PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Analysis) and SFMEA (System Failure Mode Analysis).
  • throughout the organization. Ensures that recommended actions are data driven, and are completed in a timely manner. Plans RPN reductions for both long- and short-term risk mitigation.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and process changes. Also, where applicable, schedules Gage R&R activities and analyzes their validity.
  • Accountable and responsible for all Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis for PPAP/First Article submissions to customers. Coordinates such activities with the PPAP Coordinator.
  • Communicates significant issues and/or developments identified during APQP and PST activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Responsible for customer, supplier and internal corrective action activities. Specifically, assigns champions and supports problem solving activities through to their completion and/or submission to a customer.
  • Maintains current and working knowledge of applicable government regulations, ISO, and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

Work Environment: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level is usually moderate in offices and loud in our non-climate-controlled production facility.
