Harrison Steel has created a new position within its Benefits department to help facilitate the company's employee assistance program (EAP), designated as the Employee Assistance Program Coordinator. This is a new position designed to enhance the usefulness of employee assistance services and community resources as well as expand resources and/or knowledge of available resources; ensuring all employees and their families have access to needed services, both internally to company-offered benefits and externally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and monitors all aspects of Harrison Steel's EAP, including researching, evaluating, and analyzing the current program, best practices, and trends and also developing, implementing, and delivering improvements.
  • Serves as the primary contact, directly accessible by phone, text, and email, for employees in all aspects of Harrison Steel's EAP, including but not limited to, housing assistance, food insecurity, overall health and wellness, finances, recovery, and counseling services.
  • Conducts screening assessments and triages appropriate care recommendations.
  • Maintains favorable and effective relationships with community partners and resource providers needed to provide effective employee assistance and coordinates initial care connections between employees and appropriate resources.
  • Ensures all referrals and communication are responded to promptly, assisting both employees and external resources as necessary.
  • Assists in assessing barriers to care and identifying ways in which to address those barriers.
  • Provides excellent customer service and follow-up to ensure employee is satisfied with the outcome.
  • Develops and maintains a complete and current knowledge and directory of available resources, both within the company and outside the company.
  • Serves as a resource for management on topics related to the EAP, including training and support.
  • Remains current on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and timely presents findings to management in a timely manner.
  • Must operate effectively with various levels of leadership and clinical expertise.
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate and complete written record of each employee assistance interaction, i.e. phone calls, emails, in-person visits.
  • Be active and involved within the community.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent at communicating both verbally and in writing, to individuals with a variety of literacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough understanding and implementation of confidentiality and anti-discrimination requirements under all applicable laws.
  • Adept in the skills of active listening and empathy.
  • Ability to assess uncomfortable situations and to identify appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to remain professional and tactful.
