Summary: Eliminates defects in steel castings through the operations of gouging, welding, burning, and carbon arc washing. Once trained, this position will work our 2nd shift, which is normally 3pm-11pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Repairs fully all defects marked by the Line Inspector using gouging, welding, burning, and carbon arc washing.
  • Removes excess material on the steel castings through precision burning and carbon arc washing.
  • Works safely and efficiently.
  • Communicates to supervision quality and equipment problems.
  • Marks casting with welder symbol for traceability.
  • Follows job work instructions and training matrix, where applicable.

Level A should also possess a heightened ability to make decisions, is more efficient and works at a quicker pace than Level B.                                           

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

No Computer skills needed.
