Summary: Provide technical expertise, support, training, and design assistance to the Maintenance / Engineering department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Completes assigned various engineering projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Evaluation of Maintenance / Engineering Department problems, needs, and opportunities.
  • Aids in the development of detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, and implementation schedules.
  • Coordinates consultants, contractors, and in-house staff for the construction, implementation, startup, and training required for selected projects.
  • Provides trouble shooting and Maintenance expertise.
  • Assists production departments in documenting new and evaluating alternate processes and equipment.
  • Protects the company's best interests, both financially and through regulatory compliance.
  • Provides professional support services to production to help maintain a safe workplace for all employees.
  • Understands limitations, evaluates, and contracts appropriate consultants and professional services when required.
  • Assists in writing and/or modifying preventative maintenance tasks and schedules for production equipment.
  • Follows job work instructions, where applicable.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited four-year College or university; or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Math Ability:

Must possess strong mathematical and analytical abilities. Have experience with mathematical and financial concepts, accounting, and statistical analysis.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.  Ability to professionally communicate verbally and electronically both internal to the company and externally to any required parties.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, schematics, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.  Ability to make sound decisions in high stress environments.

Computer Skills:

  • Should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Desired skills include familiarty with an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software package
