  • Full Time

Harrison Steel is hiring a Foundry Superintendent, who will oversee and coordinate the day to day activities involved in the production of steel castings, with a focus on safety, quality and productivity. This individual manages up to 24 supervisors, who lead hourly employees in molding and pouring steel castings. Position reports to the Director of Operations.

The successful candidate will have 10 years or more of Foundry experience, and a good understanding of the sand castings process. Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required. Also required: Previous experience as a supervisor or manager. Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

The individual should be familiar with preparation and creation of sand molds and cores, sand testing, melting and pouring of molten metal, and the shakeout process. The individual directs, coordinates and evaluates all units responsible for these duties and overall Foundry production.

We prefer a Six Sigma Black Belt and in-depth knowledge in Statistical Process Controls. It is important to note that standardization within our industrial steel foundry is sometimes limited, due to our focus on low volume, specialized castings. Many orders number below 10 parts per year. Quality always takes priority over lean processes and methods.

The best candidate has the ability to incorporate varying degrees of lean principles where lean practices cannot be implemented.

The individual also must possess genuine ability to handle and work with people, and must perform well under pressure, on a regular basis.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
